In this edition of Websurfer we look at the website Logopedia. Logopedia is a user driven wiki for the collection, examination and display of logos. It is part of the larger Wikia.com, a place where users get together and create wikis to share, create, collaborate, learn, and inform.

Wikia.com is home to over 400,000 communities for fans, by fans. It is often cited as the best source of accurate, dynamic, and fresh fan-authored information that fuels popular culture. Wikia.com investors include Amazon.com Inc., Bessemer Venture Partners and Institutional Venture Partners.

Since it was created in late 2009, Logopedia users have uploaded 155,173 files to more than 43,290 content pages. The site itself contains a total of 227,649 pages including talk pages, redirects, etc. Logopedia has 24,272,997 registered users.

The website is fairly easy to navigate and intuitive. It is presented in a somewhat magazine blog format with new additions running in a slideshow on the main page. Easy to navigate categories under the heading of “Topics” make finding industry specific and company logos simple. The website also has a link to a special page of design agencies known for their logo creation.

The search works great especially if you have a company name your wish to explore. For this article we typed in “Disney” and found a wealth of information including a table that included logos for a number of Disney properties including ABC, ESPN and Marvel.
